Simplenote is an easy way to keep notes, lists, ideas and more. Your notes stay in sync with all your devices for free. The Simplenote experience is all about speed and efficiency. Open it, write some thoughts, and you're done. As your collection of notes grows, you can search them instantly and keep them organized with tags and pins. Checklists can be added to your notes to keep track of your tasks. You can also share notes and publish them for other people. Like Markdown? You can edit, preview and publish your notes using Markdown formatting. The best way to learn about Simplenote is to try it. You'll be asked to create an account. I dont need sync. Account registration required.

A note-taking app which only works with an seperate account is not really trustworthy. If this is necessary for sync with devices of non-apple devices, then you should make the login/register optinal. Not obligatory. With that, I don't see my notes and data save and secure.

Gibt es denn keine Apps mehr, die nicht an der Zitze eine Cloud hängen!? Ab in den Müll...

Before updating it was perfect. Just did what it promised, no clutter, easy cross platform synching with a beautiful minimalistic design. But now on my MBP 2013 that definitely still got the power to handle more complex software, the whole app including typing has become sluggish and stuttery (feels like 15-20 fps). Additionally, the 12th tab stop leads to a line break (on my screen about 15% width of the text field in full screen) although you can easily space your way to the right side. For me this is unfortunate, because I structured a lot of my notes via tabs, now you can imagine what they look like. I initially thought this was intentional behaviour for unification of display (so the note would look the same on narrower displays of portable devices) but a) like I mentioned, you can use spaces to get the cursor wherever you like without line breaks and b) it would just look and feel awkward on a big display to just have the left most 15ish% to work in.

  • Nice App - but I changed my Workflow

It’s a great App I used vor several years. It stores notes and let you focus on the text. Its quite fast and has working search options. When I came to more notes I used nvalt to backup my notes offline. And there’s the problem. I fould no way to sync my notes automatically for offline use. The main reason why I am using textfiles/markdown is to be independent from properitary software. With simplenote I cannot access my content without simplenote or an app which supports simplenote. All I want are simple text files. The combination of nvalt (for backup) and simplenote (for wirting) was not appropriate for my usecase. Thus I switched to Ulysses. It stores my Textfiles on Dropbox, iCloud, GoogleDrive, whatever and let me accass the files with a plain, simple Textedit if I need to. If you don’t care about accessibility this program is your choice. It’s one of the best, give it a try :-)
