    Tried many meditation apps over the years and Waking Up is the app I stayed with. While other apps often take an unnecessarily cryptic and uncomfortably spiritual approach to practice, the waking App courses focus on explaining every step and technique and theory lessons put mindfulness training into a scientific and fascinating philosophical context. I quickly developed an understanding for how this practice could be beneficial and how to integrate insights into everyday life. Waking Up has significantly enhanced my well-being over the last two years.

    If you are interested in deepening your meditation technique as well as your understanding of mindfulness and how your mind works there is no better app than Waking Up! I have been using headspace for a few years but realized quickly that it doesn’t go very deep and has a limited offering of meditation techniques. It was a good introduction to meditation for me but when I found out abt Waking up I was blown away. It literally changed my life as it opened up a whole new world to me. There is enough content included for a lifetime it seems and ever more content is being uploaded: Very interesting conversations and theoretical lessons that complement the meditation sessions perfectly. It was this app that convinced me to do a silent meditation retreat last month - one of the most powerful and insightful experiences of my life. There is nothing in life that I can recommend more to everybody than starting meditation - and to do it with Waking up. It will change your life to the better - and with it the life of the people around you. Thanks a lot Sam Harris and team! The way how you, Sam, convey such difficult topics is incredible. And it’s beautiful and inspiring to see how many lives you are touching with your work. Best wishes from Germany!

  • Much more than a meditation app

    This app has changed for me the paradigm of what a meditation app can do. Maybe because it is much more than a meditation app, in its very diverse while beautifully integrated theory and practice. The focus here is not on reducing stress, optimising our focus and so on, but rather of inviting us, with the help of different approaches, discussions and techniques, to recognize and understand our mind. This app is also the only one which has truly helped me integrating the practice into my everyday life, stimulating me to repeatedly recognize my mind and its sneaky attempt to make meditation just another chore. I recommend it wholeheartedly!

    Today I was sitting at my laptop just writing a bit in my journal about Right Now. And the question came up: what am I, what should I, what do I want to do right now? Hmm, I thought … what am I? And for once there was the feeling of an answer there, a certain understanding. Among a lot of other soul-searching, I strongly suspect the practice of your guided meditations being very important for this. Thank you very much!     During one of the daily meditations last week, I was opening up to the sounds around me. That was when a tram was going past outside, I could hear it… except there was no me hearing it. There was no me, just the sound, and no sound, just me. There was nothing between myself and the sound of the tram. A truly incredible experience. Couldn’t recommend this app more. So much more than a meditation app.

    I love this app. It really changed my life - especially it taught me that in every moment I have the chance to decide how I want to react to things. And there is always the possibility to begin again. This gives me inner peace.
